AMD has completed the acquisition of Nod.ai. This acquisition, which was announced last week, brings the Nod.ai team into AMD’s Artificial Intelligence Group. With the acquisition, AMD wants to enable more AI applications for AMD hardware.

The acquisition should ensure that AMD continues to develop its Unified AI software stack can speed up. This software stack is used by customers to create AI software for AMD hardware. AMD focuses on devices such as laptops and desktops, and on data center hardware. The company says Nod.ai’s products will remain community-driven, seemingly indicating that Nod.ai will continue to make products as well.

No acquisition amount has been mentioned. Nod.ai makes artificial intelligence software for data centers and has its own machine learning model, among other things. Nod.ai has also contributed to the open source projects Torch-MLIR and OpenXLA/IREE. Competitor Nvidia has benefited greatly from the rise of AI in recent months, which is partly why the company’s share price recently exceeded a trillion dollars.
