Amazon Game Studios has decided not to release its mmo New World in May, as originally planned, but to postpone its release to August 25. The reason is that development has been delayed due to adjustments due to the corona crisis.

The postponement also means that the closed beta won’t start until July. The alpha version of the game will continue to be usable by those who have access to it. According to the developers, there are the necessary challenges when making an ambitious project like New World if you have to work from home. The team is using the delay to ensure the quality of the game upon release.

New World is Amazon Game Studio’s biggest project to date. The mmo can be played solo and as a team and will have battles with up to 100 players and NPCs. Thousands of players can be active per server. New World revolves around the island of Aeternum, which was inhabited by the Ancients in the distant past. They made use of the powers of Azoth, which, among other things, would provide eternal life. Settlers attempt to take control of the island in the 17th century, battling rivals and an evil force called Corruption.
