Alleged HTC U presentation with touch-sensitive sides appears online

The site Android Headlines has put an internal presentation of the HTC U smartphone, also known under the codename ‘Ocean’, online. It describes the touch-sensitive sensors on the side of the phone, which previously appeared in rumors.

For example, according to the site, it can be concluded from the materials that there are three adjustable ‘power levels’ to which the phone responds. Users can then long or short press the side of the device to access various functions, such as turning on the camera or starting a Wi-Fi hotspot. In the published materials, which still contain spelling errors here and there, the feature is called ‘Edge Sense’. HTC mentions that the function may be limited by use of certain cases.

As mentioned in previous rumors, the device has a 5.5″ screen with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and protection by Gorilla Glass 5. It runs on a Snapdragon 835-soc and according to the presentation will be available in variants with 64GB. storage and 4GB ram or 128GB storage and 6GB ram.In addition, it has a 3000mAh battery and Quick Charge 3.0. At release, the phone is equipped with Android 7.1.

Furthermore, the smartphone would have a camera with HDR + setting, where it seems possible to see a preview of the effect. The presentation does not mention any further details about the sensors used by the cameras. The HTC U does not have a 3.5mm connection and uses USB-C for audio. In addition, the device has four microphones, with which users should be able to record in high quality. The Boom Sound and USonic known from other HTC devices are also present in this phone in combination with double speakers.
