Acer Introduces Chromebook Spin 11 for Classroom Use

Acer has announced the Chromebook Spin 11. This laptop has a screen that can rotate 360 ​​degrees, and is primarily intended for use in a school environment. The device must also be able to withstand a knock.

The Chromebook Spin 11 was made public at the BETT trade show, which will be held in London from January 25-28. According to Acer, the Chromebook is equipped with an 11.6 “screen with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. The screen is of the IPS type, and can be rotated 360 degrees, so that the Chromebook can also be used as a tablet.

According to Acer, the Chromebook Spin 11 is intended to be used in the classroom. That’s why the device is built tough, conforming to MIL-STD 810G specifications. This means that the device must be able to survive a drop of up to 122 centimeters, and must be resistant to spills. There is also support for a stylus, which is included and is designed by Wacom. Gorilla Glass from Corning was chosen to protect the screen from damage.

As for the internal hardware, there are two different models, one with an Intel Celeron processor with model number N3350 and one with model number N3450. The RAM and storage memory are also different. The one with the N3350 processor has 4GB of ram and 32GB of storage, while the N3450 has 8 and 64GB respectively. Furthermore, both models have two webcams: one of 5 megapixels and one of 1 megapixel. Connections can be made via WiFi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.2. There are also four USB ports, 2 of which are of the c-type and a micro-SD card slot. The weight is 1.4 kg, and Acer reports a battery life of up to 10 hours.

Acer also showed a Chromebook during the CES fair that is intended for use in education. However, it does not have a folding screen.
