Google has announced that from February 15, the Chrome browser will block ads or advertisements that do not meet the Better Ads standards. Pop-ups, commercials with video and sound and banners that occupy the entire screen, for example, are known as undesirable.

Google can report a website if it doesn’t follow the ad guidelines. If the website shows ads that are unacceptable, Chrome will remove them. Through the Ads functionality report prepared by Google, advertisers can find out what they have to comply with and which problems need to be solved. Once the latter is done, they can request a review of their site to see if the annoying ads are gone.

In June, Google announced it would support the Better Ads standards in Chrome from early 2018. This service starts on February 15. Which advertising is acceptable or not is based on the standards of the Coalition for Better Ads. The coalition has drawn up a list of undesirable advertising methods, which include advertising videos with sound, pop-ups, flashy animations, full-screen rollover advertising and large sticky ads.

Google has previously indicated that the advertisements that may be blocked may also include advertising from Google itself. The company comes with this approach to annoying advertisements based on the idea that it is necessary to ensure that online advertising remains a revenue model for content creators in the long term. Google has been reporting unwanted advertisements to websites since August.
