Sony: PlayStation Network is gradually coming back online after ddos
According to Sony, the PlayStation Network will be back online for all users after the service has been down due to a DDO attack since last week. At the time of writing, there were still many users experiencing issues.
With a message on Twitter confirmed Sony that PlayStation Network is gradually coming back online. The company is in the process of restoring the online service after a hacker collective called Lizard Squad caused a malfunction with a DDoS attack. It is unclear when the problems will be solved for everyone: according to Sony are there are still technical problems that prevent some users from logging in.
Xbox Live also fell victim to Lizard Squad’s ddos attack. Microsoft previously announced that it has restored the service. The hacker collective also announced that it had now shifted its attention: on Saturday, the Tor network was attacked by registering massively new nodes.
In an interview with Sky News, a suspected member said Lizard Squad’s actions were aimed at raising awareness for security. “One of the main reasons was the lack of security at these companies. They should have sufficient resources to protect themselves against such attacks,” said the Finnish hacker in a Skype video call.
