1Password integrates Fastmail service to hide email address

1Password has integrated a Fastmail service to hide email addresses into its software. If they also subscribe to Fastmail, 1Password users can create accounts without revealing their own email address.

1Password calls the feature Masked Email and it comes from a collaboration with Fastmail. The feature allows users to create accounts on websites without revealing their email address. When creating an account, a Fastmail alias is created and all mail sent to it ends up in the user’s Fastmail inbox. It is also possible to forward those e-mails to another mail provider.

Aliases that have been created do not disappear unless they are manually deleted by the user. This makes the service suitable for accounts on websites that are used for a long time. To use the feature, 1Password users must also have a Fastmail subscription. That costs $3 a month with 2GB of email storage. There are also $5 and $9 monthly plans, with 30GB and 100GB storage space and more advanced features respectively.
