Netflix series The Witcher is one of the streaming service’s biggest successes. This is evident from figures on viewer numbers, which the service shares for the first time. The series is in third place, with 76 million accounts watched.

Netflix shows statistics about its own productions in two slides. The first season of The Witcher is in third place in the top ten of series. The number of 76 million viewers represents the number of accounts that watched the series for at least two minutes in the first 28 days after its release on the streaming service. The first season of Lupine is in second place, with 76 million viewers. Bridgerton goes on sale with 82 million accounts viewed.

Netflix also shows the number of hours that accounts watched the respective titles in the first 28 days after release. The Witcher comes in at 541 million hours and is therefore in fourth place. The first season consists of eight episodes of approximately one hour each. It can be concluded from this that many accounts have actually watched the series. 541 million hours is roughly equal to 67.6 million times the length of the first season.

It is the first time that the streaming service provides such detailed viewing figures. When presenting the quarterly figures, the company only mentions the number of subscribers. In July there were about 209 million. Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos showed the numbers at the Code Conference, writes The Verge.

The first season of The Witcher was released on Netflix at the end of 2019. It was already clear then that the series was popular, but Netflix has never given any figures on that. After the release of the series, the number of players of The Witcher 3 on Steam rose to a record high and also in the Pricewatch that game was much more clicked than before.

Last weekend, Netflix announced that the third season of The Witcher is coming. The second season of the Netflix series will be released on December 17. The TV series is based on the books of the Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski, as are the games from CD Projekt RED.
