YouTube sets up investigation team after complaints about taking videos offline

YouTube has set up a team to deal with copyright claims. With this, the video site tries to meet complaints from video makers, who stated that their videos have been wrongly taken offline.

In a post on its YouTube support forums, the company said it is setting up a dedicated team to prevent errors in copyright claims and improve “quality of actions.” In the coming months, the video site also wants to ensure that communication with creators is improved and that claims become more transparent. However, how YouTube will do that exactly has not yet been announced.

Creators have been complaining about the copyright system on YouTube for some time now. It allows rights holders to file a claim if they believe a particular video has their copyright infringed, but many people have reported that their videos have been falsely accused of copyright infringement. It also states that it is difficult to appeal, which means that videos remain offline for a long time or even not be restored at all. As a result, creators can miss out on a lot of ad revenue.
