Xiaomi presents 11″ Android tablet with 120Hz screen and Snapdragon 870 soc

Xiaomi releases the Mi Pad 5 tablet in China. There will be versions with the Snapdragon 860 and 870 soc, and a 5G version of the Pro version will appear. The tablets have an 11″ screen with a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz.

On paper, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 tablets are among the fastest Android tablets of the moment. In the regular model are the Qualcomm Snapdragon 860-soc, 6GB Lpddr5 memory and 128GB or 256GB UFS 3.1 flash storage. The Mi Pad 5 Pro features a Snapdragon 870-soc and there is a Pro 5G variant with the same soc and 8GB of ram.

The three tablets all have an 11″ screen with a 16:10 ratio and a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels. The LCD has a refresh rate of 120Hz and a color depth of 10bit. There is HDR10 and Dolby Vision support and according to the manufacturer the screen reaches a peak brightness of 500cd/m² and the screen also has a TrueTone function for adjusting the colors and brightness to the ambient light.

The Pro 5G model also has the most advanced cameras. The primary camera uses a 50-megapixel sensor and there is a secondary 5-megapixel sensor with ultra-wide angle lens. The Mi Pad 5 Pro also has two cameras, but the primary sensor has a 13-megapixel resolution. The Mi Pad 5 only has that primary camera.

The Mi Pad 5 Pro can fast charge its 8600mAh battery with 67W. The Mi Pad 5 has an 8720mAh battery, but is limited to 33W fast charging. All Mi Pad 5 tablets can be combined with a magnetic keyboard and a stylus.

Xiaomi has only announced the tablets for the Chinese market. Whether an international release is planned is not yet known. The cheapest model costs 1999 yuan. Converted with VAT about 318 euros. The most expensive version costs 3499 yuan, which is converted with VAT to about 557 euros. It is the first time in three years that Xiaomi is releasing Android tablets again. The Mi Pad 4 models are from 2018.
