Xiaomi announces Redmi 7 smartphone

Xiaomi announced the Redmi 7 on Monday, a smartphone with a ‘drop notch’ for the front camera and two cameras on the back. At the same time, the manufacturer introduced a corresponding wireless headset, the Redmi AirDots.

The front camera is an 8-megapixel model and offers facial recognition for unlocking the Redmi 7. On the back is a 12-megapixel camera with a pixel size of 1.25 µm and an aperture of f/2.2 combined with a 2-megapixel sensor for depth information. The device has a 6.25″ screen with a resolution of 1520×720 pixels.

The processor is the Snapdragon 632 from Qualcomm and there will be variants with 2GB ram and 16GB storage, 3GB and 32GB and 4GB ram with 64GB storage. The battery capacity is 4000mAh, there is a 3.5mm audio connector and the manufacturer has provided the device with a water-repellent layer. The SIM card tray also offers space for two nano SIMs and a micro SD card.

The starting price for the version with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage is 699 Chinese yuan, converted and with VAT that is about 111 euros. The version with 4GB ram and 64GB storage has a suggested retail price of 999 yuan in China, which is converted and with VAT at 159 euros. Optionally, the company supplies the Redmi AirDots, a wireless headset that works via bluetooth 5 and that has a price of 99 yuan, converted about 16 euros.
