WhatsApp is testing a new polling feature with end-to-end encryption with a new beta version for iOS. Beta testers can create a survey in group conversations, after which group members can submit their answers via the chat service.

The poll feature is being tested through WhatsApp beta version 2.22.6.70 available through Apple TestFlight, notes WABetaInfo. The feature allows users to create a survey directly in the chat application, after which other members of a group conversation can forward their answers. The entire process is provided with end-to-end encryption.

As the feature is still under testing, the full capabilities of the new feature are not yet fully understood. For example, WABetaInfo does not know whether a poll creator can enter predetermined answers and whether all participants of a group conversation can see the results. For now, the beta version is only available for iOS devices. Presumably a test version will be released for Android and PC at a later date. It is not yet clear when the feature will be made available to regular users.
