WD introduces My Passport 4TB SSD for 828 euros

Western Digital introduces four new portable SSDs with a capacity of 4TB. The cheapest is the My Passport with a price of 828 euros, with a reading speed of 1.05GB/s and writing speed of 1GB/s.

The four new 4TB SSDs appear in WD’s SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable, SanDisk Extreme Portable, WD_BLACK P50 Game Drive and My Passport product lines. The SanDisk Extreme Pro is the fastest, with a write and read speed of 2GB/s. The Extreme Pro comes in an aluminum housing that also functions as a heatsink. The SSD should be able to survive a fall from two meters and is also water and dust resistant, according to WD. The suggested retail price is 952 euros.

In addition, the SanDisk Extreme appears, with read speeds of up to 1.05GB/s and write speeds of up to 1GB/s. The disc is therefore somewhat slower than the Extreme Pro, but must also survive a fall from a maximum of two meters and is also water and dust resistant. This disc will cost 828 euros.

With the WD_BLACK P50, Western Digital is targeting gamers. The manufacturer promises read and write speeds of up to 2GB/s. The suggested retail price is 833 euros. At the bottom of the range is the new WD My Passport SSD. The drive will be available in four colors and with read speeds of up to 1.05GB/s and write speeds of up to 1GB/s. The SSD is shock and vibration resistant and is drop resistant up to 1.98 meters. The 4TB drives should be on sale this quarter.
