Warner Bros., DC Entertainment and OTOY are working on a virtual reality version of the animated Batcave. The location from the Batman: The Animated series can be viewed with the Oculus Rift and several other VR devices.

Warner Bros, DC Entertainment and OTOY are working on a simulation that will allow individuals to view the animated Batcave from Batman: The Animated series. The Oculus Rift and the Samsung Gear VR are specifically named as devices that the simulation must support. Later, other devices such as TVs and mobile devices may be added. The goal is to let fans explore the animated location in a new way. There is no mention of a game, but of a ‘holographic video’.

The companies are partnering with Bruce Timm, the producer of Batman: The Animated Series. He will support the project to recreate the Batcave as accurately as possible. The television series was on TV from 1992 to 1995 and won several Emmy Awards at the time, mainly due to the animations and the quality of the screenplays.

OTOY says its partnership with Warner Bros. underlines the potential of VR devices as a new film medium. The developers have already started work to realize the project and have set themselves the goal of delivering it in the winter.
