Exodus Burned, a VR e-sports game from developer Pillow’s Willow, has found a permanent home in Eindhoven. The game is playable in its own arcade, where groups of eight players can go. The makers hope to sell the concept.

The opening of the Active eSports Arena took place on Wednesday. Exodus Burned can be played in the arcade, located on the edge of the center of Eindhoven. The VR game, referred to by the makers as an active e-sports game, can be described as a combination of Dance Dance Revolution and Guitar Hero and is played in a virtual arena. There, two teams of two players compete against each other in eight-minute matches. Players will wear VR glasses and sensors on their arms and legs, which will track their movements. Players stand on a surface of roughly four by four meters, which can be seen in the game as a floating platform in a virtual arena. Next, the player has to dodge floating blocks, while other blocks have to be tapped with hands, feet and head.

The Eindhoven Pillow’s Willow, which previously delivered VR game Spark of Light, is working for Exodus Burned together with PSV, among others. The football club, which already has an e-sports team, sees Exodus Burned as a good combination between gaming and sports. That’s how Papendal Sports Center sees it too. The NOC*NSF training center wants an Exodus Burned setup. The sports umbrella organization believes that the game can serve to test the physical reaction speed of athletes and hopes to be able to use the game in the rehabilitation of athletes.

Pillow’s Willow sees the Active eSports Arena in Eindhoven primarily as a showcase, from which the concept of Exodus Burned can be sold. The game is now only playable in Eindhoven, where it can be booked as a group activity for eight players or more.
