Apple does not approve the release of the iOS version of the Steam Link app. The company has withdrawn an earlier approval, after a new review found a violation of app guidelines.

On May 7, Apple initially authorized the release of Steam Link’s iOS app, reports Valve in a statement. On May 9, the company announced that the app would be released for iOS. The next morning, however, Apple withdrew the permission. After a new review, conflicts with the app guidelines had been identified that had not been revealed before. It is unclear which conflicts are involved.

Valve appealed the decision, citing the presence of numerous other remote desktop apps on iOS, which rely on similar functionality. However, that appeal was rejected. “The team here has put a lot of hours into this project and the approval process, so we are clearly disappointed. We hope Apple will consider the decision in the future,” the statement said.

The company released a test version of its Steam Link app for Android on May 18. The app allows streaming games from PC to Android devices.
