The Japanese company Vaio, the former Sony branch, has unveiled a prototype tablet with keyboard. The device has a 3:2 aspect ratio screen and an Intel quad-core with Iris Pro Graphics.

Vaio showed the prototype at the Adobe MAX Creativity conference and the Japanese company seems to be targeting graphics professionals. It is one of the first new products developed by the former Sony division itself. The tablet has a similar shape to the Surface Pro 3 and, like the Microsoft tablet, also has a stylus and a clickable keyboard. The screen has a diagonal of 12.3 inches and resolution of 2560×1704 pixels, with a pixel density of 250ppi. The screen can display 95 percent of Adobe’s RGB color space.

The processor is a quad-core from the H-series of Intel’s Core line, with Iris Pro Graphics as the GPU. Because the tdp of such a chip is 47W, the question is what the battery life and heat development in the narrow housing are like. Vaio has equipped the tablet with two USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, mini-displayport and gigabit ethernet. In addition, there is a card reader that supports sdxc uhs-II memory cards. The Windows tablet should appear in Japan next May, for an amount of approximately 1500 euros.
