The release of the film adaptation of popular game series Uncharted is again postponed. The Uncharted movie has been delayed several times; in January, another date was mentioned in March 2021, but that will now be October 2021.

Sony Pictures has announced that the film Uncharted will no longer be released on March 5, 2021, but on October 8, Variety writes based on a statement from Sony. That delay of more than six months is related to the problems surrounding the corona crisis. As a result, most movie theaters in the United States have now closed. Due to concerns about the virus, production of the Uncharted film was already stopped for six weeks in mid-March. Sony has also postponed quite a few other film releases that should have taken place this year to next year.

The Uncharted film is set to be the first production from Sony PlayStation Productions, the studio set up in 2018 with the aim of filming games. The film has been in the works for over ten years and the project has already worn out all kinds of directors. Late last year, it was reported that the sixth director had left. This concerned Travis Knight, who is said to have left the project due to scheduling issues. The direction is now in the hands of Ruben Fleischer, who was, among other things, the director of the not too well-received superhero film Venom, which was released in 2018.
