An unannounced wearable called the Samsung Gear Sport recently appeared at the American market watchdog FCC. Given the attached images and the naming, it is probably a smartwatch with fitness applications.

Documentation at the US FCC shows that the as-yet unannounced device will be given the model number SM-R600, and the model name will be called the Gear Sport, the website Android Headlines discovered.

Furthermore, the documentation contains hardly any information about the specifications and about the software used. However, images are available, and the design shows that it is a smartwatch, and that a heart rate sensor is probably built in. Incidentally, the FCC calls the Gear Sport a “wrist device.”

Due to the name Gear Sport, it is likely that Samsung wants to market the new smartwatch as a fitness device. Previously, the manufacturer did just that with smart bracelets, such as the Gear Fit series.

Given the registration with the FCC, Samsung is probably already well advanced in the development. On August 23, Samsung will hold its Unpacked event and it is possible that the Gear Sport will make its appearance there.
