Twitter alternative Bluesky is rolling out feeds with modified algorithms
Bluesky, the decentralized social media platform from Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, is introducing “custom feeds” that allow users to choose and create their own algorithms. The platform is currently in closed beta.
The custom feeds allow users to subscribe to feeds that use different algorithms than the standard ‘What’s Hot’ feed. This allows users to have more control over what is presented algorithmically by the app.
Bluesky CEO Jay Graber said earlier this year that the platform wants “a future where the user determines what they see on social media.” Graber also said that Bluesky “aims to replace the conventional master algorithm controlled by a single company” and replace it with an “open and diverse marketplace of algorithms.”
Currently, the decentralized social medium that can be seen as an alternative to Twitter is only available by invitation. Earlier this year, the app became available for iOS and not much later also for Android. It is not yet known when the platform will be opened to a larger audience.
