In addition to three watches, TomTom has also announced a fitness tracker called ‘Touch’ as part of the IFA trade fair in Berlin. This is able to measure the fat percentage and muscle mass of the user.

For example, users should get an estimate of the effectiveness of a workout and be able to exercise more effectively, TomTom claims in a press release. Statistics can be viewed using an associated app and synchronization takes place via bluetooth 4.1. The wearable features a touch-sensitive screen with a resolution of 28×32 pixels and dimensions of 5.58×22.38mm. In terms of sensors, the bracelet is equipped with an accelerometer and a gyroscope, in addition to an optical heart rate monitor. The device is only resistant to splashing water and is not suitable for swimming.

The sports watches introduced at the fair are known as the Spark 3 and the Runner 3. These allow users to upload their own route. In addition, the watches keep track of where the athlete has been, making it easier to walk or cycle new routes without getting lost, Tomtom writes. The Spark and the Runner have a screen with a resolution of 144×168 pixels and dimensions of 22×25 mm. In addition to GPS, the watches are equipped with an accelerometer, gyroscope and compass. Both watches are available in variants with 3GB extra storage for up to five hundred music tracks. The more expensive models are also equipped with a heart rate monitor.

A third watch is intended for ‘outdoor’ use and has been given the name Adventurer. The device is suitable for winter sports, because it can, for example, automatically determine when the user is in the elevator, so that this has no influence on the statistics, according to TomTom. This watch is also equipped with GPS, a heart rate monitor, a barometer and a compass. This model also has storage for 3GB of music. All watches are water resistant to a depth of 40m.

The Touch is available from September for 149 euros. The watches will be available in October for a price of 129 euros for the cheapest model and 249 euros for the model with heart rate monitor and music storage. The Adventurer costs 299 euros.
