Tesla comes with faster P100D variant of Model S and X with longer range

Tesla has announced a new variant of the Model S and Model X. The electric cars are now also available in P100D version. In combination with the Ludicrous mode, the new Tesla S sprints from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 2.7 seconds.

The heavier Model X does the sprint to 100 in 3.1 seconds with the new energy source. According to Tesla, the 100 kWh battery provides a range of 613 km on the Model S, while the Model X can cover a distance of up to 542 km on a full charge.

Previously, the P90D version of the Model S and X was the most powerful variant. With that, the cars in Ludicrous fashion did the sprint in 3.0 and 3.4 seconds respectively. The range with the battery of 90kWh is 509km for the Model S and 476km for the X.

Customers who have ordered a Tesla P90D Ludicrous that has not yet been delivered can upgrade to the new model for $10,000. Those who already have such a model can have their car upgraded for 20,000 dollars. Euro prices are not yet known.
