Several Telegram channels to notice on that a Wallet option has now been added to the main menu of the app for a small group of users. For now, that only seems to be happening for users who have previously used the Wallet bot of the same name, the official bot for use with the cryptocurrency TON.

Telegram announced TON, which stood for Telegram Open Network, back in 2018. TON is a blockchain with an associated digital currency, the toncoin. Telegram has now left the project and TON stands for The Open Network, but the two companies have suffered a few days during the TOKEN2049 conference announced that they will be working together again on integrating a wallet into the app.

Telegram founder Pavel Durov calls the application ‘a third-party mini-app within Telegram’. Developers can thus build their own applications that work with the wallet. From November, all Telegram users will be able to store their toncoins in the app. It is not known whether alternative cryptocurrencies can be added to the wallet in the future. Americans cannot use the wallet; toncoin came under fire from the stock exchange watchdog there. He states that Telegram used toncoin to raise moneybut in the meantime, Telegram is said to have wrongly released coins into circulation without having the proper permission to do so.
