The release of the Sims-like game Life By You has been postponed. The game was supposed to be released in early access in September of this year, but that has now become March 5, 2024. The creator needs more time to polish the graphics and interface.

Paradox Tectonic leader Rod Humble reports this in a short update video. The studio’s plans now for the work they do in the extra time are based on feedback from the mod maker community, who will already be able to play early builds of the game. The mod tools and gameplay are also being improved, Humble says.

Life By You will be an open-world life sim where players can create their own characters. Characteristic and distinctive compared to The Sims is that the characters also live in a larger world, which exists at the same time as their own home. There are no loading screens between the different locations.

Furthermore, the game contains much of what is known from The Sims. Characters have needs such as hunger, pleasure, thirst, sleep, toilet needs, hygiene and social needs. They can move through the world by skateboarding, cycling and driving a car. Conversations between characters should feature real language speech bubbles, rather than the more abstract language and speech bubbles of The Sims.

The game is made by Paradox Tectonic, a Paradox studio founded in 2019. Rod Humble heads Tectonic; Humble was head of The Sims brand around the launch of The Sims 3 in 2009. He later became CEO of Linden Lab, developer of Second Life. Life by You appears on Steam and the Epic Games Store as in Early Access and costs 40 euros.
