Arkane Lyon is postponing its new game Deathloop until the second quarter of next year. The game should have been released for PlayStation 5 and PC this fall, but more time is needed to finish the game. The studio cites the corona pandemic as the reason.

According to Arkane Lyon, more time is needed to get the game to the desired level. In a statement writes the developer that this is taking longer than usual because of the corona pandemic, which means that many people work from home.

Deathloop was announced at the E3 game show in June 2019. The first gameplay footage was shown at Sony’s PlayStation 5 event in June this year. The game should have been released with that console at the end of this year. Deathloop will also be released for PCs and presumably later on Xbox consoles. It would be a timed exclusive, which is only available for PlayStation consoles in the first year after its release.

The game is a first person shooter in a surreal environment. Deathloop is set on the fictional island of Blackreef and revolves around protagonist Colt, who finds himself in a time loop and relives the same day over and over again. He has to escape that time course by taking out targets.
