Developer Square Enix has released a trailer for the upcoming Final Fantasy VII remake. The trailer features an all-new opening scene from the original game, complete with symphonic music, improved graphics and modern animations.

The trailer, which lasts over five minutes, starts with an extended look at Midgar, the metropolis where the beginning of the game takes place, and its inhabitants. The trailer also shows part of the deserted landscape around the gray city. The second part of the trailer is a revamped version of the original opening scene from 1997, featuring flower girl Aerith and the Avalanche crew, which includes Cloud, Barret, and Tifa. The whole is also provided with new, symphonic music.

The Final Fantasy VII remake was initially scheduled to release on March 3, 2020, but the game was delayed in January. The developer said they did this to ensure that “the game matches their vision and that it gets the quality it believes the fans deserve.” The game will be split into multiple parts, the first of which is out now on April 10. The game will also be released for PC a year after release.
