French developer Dontnod is working on Life is Strange, an episodic game that will be delivered digitally only. In the game, the player has the power to turn back time. The game will be released for Windows, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.

The game is being marketed by Square Enix, which is taking over from Capcom, which released Remember Me, Dontnod’s previous game. Square Enix has revealed few details about the game. It will be offered in episodes via digital channels, although it is not known how many episodes will appear. The Japanese publisher also does not say when the first episode will appear.

The player takes on the role of Max Caulfield, a young woman from Arcadia Bay, Oregon. Together with friend Chloe, investigate the disappearance of Rachel Amber, a girl they went to school with. During that quest, Max discovers that she can turn back time. Sqaure Enix does not make it clear what influence this has on the gameplay of Life is Strange.

Life is Strange will be Dontnod’s second game and once again the studio has chosen a female protagonist. In Remember Me one Nilin was central, a woman who could rearrange the memories of others. Remember Me was an action game in which Nilin could defend herself with her fists. Whether that is also the case in Life is Strange is unknown.
