Spotify is testing podcast translations with AI-generated voices

Spotify has started testing translations of podcasts with AI-generated voices that aim to mimic the voices of the creators. The translations are available in German, Spanish and French, among others.

The test is with English podcasts, reports Spotify. Users can hear the translations in a collection thereof. The audio company is working with OpenAI, whose technology Spotify uses to generate votes.

The intention is to make podcasts available to more people in their own language, without losing the specific elements of the podcast host’s voice. For the time being, this concerns a limited number of podcast hosts and episodes.
