SoundCloud improves music suggestions in iOS app

SoundCloud has updated its iOS app with functionality that should especially facilitate the discovery of new music. Besides a ‘play related tracks’ there is the possibility to play favorite songs in shuffle mode.

SoundCloud claims to have improved its algorithm for recognizing similar music, allowing users to play a long list of music tracks that match songs that users like. In addition, after the iOS app update, users will be able to randomly play tracks they have liked.

In addition, there is the option to add or remove songs from the playlist directly from the app. Previously, users had to go to the web service for this. Finally, it has become easier to share songs via social media, directly from the search screen or the list of favorites.

With these and other recent updates, SoundCloud is trying to position itself more as an alternative to existing music streaming services. The arrival of Apple Music has brought increased competition in this market.
