Sony to End Game Streaming Service on Smart TVs, PS TV and PS Vita

Sony will stop its game streaming service on Samsung and Sony smart TVs, Sony Blu-ray players, PlayStation TV and PS Vita. The service will only be available from mid-August with a PS4 or a Windows PC.

New users will no longer be able to sign in on any of the devices on which the service will end from March 15, Sony writes. The company will stop supporting the service on many of its own products, including smart TVs, Blu-ray players, the PlayStation TV and handheld PS Vita. The service to stream PS3 games will no longer work on the PS3 itself. In addition, Sony is removing support for Samsung smart TVs.

The service will only work on PS4 and Windows PCs, Sony said. PlayStation Now is a streaming service where the games are not run on the computer or console itself. According to Sony, an Intel Core i3 at 3.5GHz or AMD A10 apu at 3.8GHz is required for the PC version. The software runs on Windows 7 or newer, requires 300MB of storage and 2GB of ram. Streaming requires a speed of at least 5Mbit/s. PlayStation Now costs 16.99 euros per month.
