Sony suffers from outage on PlayStation Network – update

Sony is experiencing an outage on its PlayStation Network. Users cannot log in, play games online and make purchases from PlayStation Store. The problems arose after planned maintenance, but it is not known whether the cause is related.

Sony has been reporting the outage on its status page since 11:39 am on Wednesday morning. Even before that, users complained that they could not use the PSN services. On Twitter reports Sony is investigating the outage. The cause of the problems is unknown at this time.

According to Sony, the outage affects account management, gaming and social networks, the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Now and PlayStation Music. On the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, Sony performed scheduled maintenance on the PlayStation Network between 1:30 and 2:30 a.m. The service was announced offline between those times. Whether the new problems are related to maintenance is not clear.

Update 13.52 pm: The PlayStation Network services are according to Sony back online since about 1.15 pm. The company did not specify what caused the problems.
