Sony increases streaming resolution of PlayStation Now to 1080p

Sony is going to provide PlayStation Now with an update from this week, with which certain games can be streamed at 1080p. The company does not yet specify which games can be streamed at the higher resolution.

according to Sony’s tweet This is a phased release starting this week. Users can expect the update “in the coming weeks”. The update will be available in all countries where PlayStation Now is active; at the time of writing this is Europe, the United States, Canada and Japan. Sony writes that the function will work with ‘supported’ games, it is not clear which games it concerns or not. Previously, the maximum stream resolution was 720p.

PlayStation Now is a service that allows subscribers to stream or download games. Players will be able to stream ‘over 700’ PlayStation 2, 3 and 4 games to PlayStation 4 or 5 consoles and PC. On the PS4 and PS5, players can also download PS4 games to play locally. A subscription to PS Now costs 10 euros per month or 60 euros per year.
