Software Update: XPize 5 Beta 6

Spread the love

XPero has released the sixth beta release of version 5 of XPize. This program can refresh the user interface of Windows XP or 2003. It still contains pictures and icons that were already available in Windows 95. XPize modifies the original images in over 150 system files to reshape icons, animations, and the like. So no separate software is needed to display them. Furthermore, the screensaver, the start-up and the login screen can also be adjusted.

In version 5 not much has changed in the end result. However, the installation process has been completely overhauled and the program can now also handle 64-bit versions of Windows XP and 2003 Server. In order to do its job, XPize needs version 2.0 of the .NET Framework and Windows XP SP3 must also be installed. If an old beta release is still installed, it is recommended that you uninstall it before using this new version. Below are the release notes for XPize 5 beta 6:

Release 6 Released

Comment & Discuss

xpize 5 release 6 is out. It introduces a bunch of incremental changes on top of Release 5, nothing dramatic.

  • Fixed the Luna Element and Darkside Shutdown/Log-off dialogs
  • Resources Improved or Added to:
    • Windows Defender
    • Internet Explorer 8
    • cards
    • Windows CardSpace
    • System Error Reporting
    • Windows’ branding banner images for x64 systems
  • Improved uninstallation so all your settings are now reset
  • Added a Feedback system
  • And to top it all off, the download is about a megabyte smaller than Release 5

I strongly recommend uninstalling 5R5 or 5R4 if you already have them installed, but it should work fine if you don’t.
