Software Update: XPAntiSpy 3.1

Mesh writes: “XPAntiSpy 3.1 is a very small program that makes it impossible for Windows XP to send information about a user without the user’s consent. Under the motto of user-friendliness, there are a number of situations where information is sent to Microsoft.

For example, when a program crashes, there will be an option to send a report about it to Microsoft. You can then indicate that the report may not be sent, but you only have to click on the wrong button and the report is sent out anyway. †

Although Microsoft has often stated that no personal information is sent, you can use XPAntiSpy to make sure that this really does not happen. This English-taught program was written by a German computer science student at no cost to you.

The download of XPAntiSpy 3.1 is only 40 Kb in size. After installation, the ZIP file XPAntiSpy3.zip will be on your hard drive. You need to extract this file to a folder of your choice. There is no installation routine, after unpacking you can start the program right away by clicking on XPAntiSpy3E.exe.

After starting XPAntiSpy, you will be presented with all options to prevent information from being sent by Windows XP. You can also do all the settings that XPAntiSpy makes for you yourself by adjusting the Windows Registry, but XPAntiSApy is more convenient, faster and certainly more secure. It is also useful to be able to undo settings made at a later time with just a mouse click.

XPAntiSpy should only be used in Windows XP!
