Software Update: WinRAR 3.91 Beta 2

RAR Labs has released the second beta release of version 3.91 of its RAR and WinRAR archiving tools. The popular compression tool is available for various operating systems, including Windows, Mac OS X and soon Linux. The program can handle the most common formats, including rar, zip, cab, arj, lzh, tar, gz, ace, uue, bz2, jar, iso, 7z and z, has a skinnable interface and support for Zip64 and multi- volume cab files. This second beta release is available for download for Windows onlyp; the other versions are still stuck at beta 1 for the time being. The changelog of this release shows the following four bug fixes:

Changes in version 3.91 beta 2:

  • WinRAR might crash when testing corrupt CAB files.
  • Beta 1 crashed on some of TAR.BZ2 archives.
  • Total progress bar could be displayed incorrectly in “Convert archives” command in beta 1.
  • SFX archives set the wrong value to “sfxcmd” environment variable if user account control prompt was displayed when unpacking.
