Software Update: Wine 1.9.9

A new development build of Wine has been released with version number 1.9.9. Wine is an open source implementation of the Windows API and allows you to run DOS and Windows programs on Linux, FreeBSD, and Solaris. A large group of developers contribute to Wine and it has been decided to release a new so-called development version every two weeks instead of waiting for a number of new functions to be ready. A stable edition is published a few times a year. The database with applications that work under Wine, with or without the help of minor adjustments, contains 23,245 titles at the time of writing. Since version 1.9.7, the following changes and improvements have been made:

Wine 1.9.9 Released

  • More work towards the WineD3D command stream.
  • Service proxies in WebServices.
  • Query support in the builtin reg.exe utility.
  • Improved support for long URLs in WinInet.
  • Various bug fixes.

Wine 1.9.8 Released

  • More work towards the WineD3D command stream.
  • Bug fix update of the Mono engine.
  • More WebServices reader support.
  • Still more Shader Model 5 support.
  • Support for gradients in metafiles.
  • Improved table formatting in WinHelp.
  • Various bug fixes.
