Software Update: Windows Media Lite 1.20

Spread the love

Windows Media Lite can play Windows Media files without installing Microsoft’s Windows Media Player. All recent versions of Windows have Windows Media Player installed by default, but some utilities (such as nLite and XPlite) make it possible to remove Windows Media Player from the system or even prevent it from ever being installed. The downside to this is that vital components for Windows Media playback are also removed. Windows Media Lite version 1.20 has recently been released with the following description:

Components:

  • Windows Media Codecs (DirectShow/VCM/DMO)
  • Windows Media Core Components
  • Windows Media Player Core Components
  • Windows Media Browser plugin for Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Firefox, Netscape and Opera

Warning: Do not install Windows Media Lite when Windows Media Player is installed.
