VueScan can be used as a replacement for the twain driver supplied with the scanner. It is by no means always able to get the most out of a scanner. VueScan is available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux, and doesn’t necessarily need to be installed to do its job. The program has support for more than 700 scanners and can with the raw files of 209 digital cameras level crossing. The program can also perform some operations such as crop, sharpen, grain reduction and has the ability to adjust the color balance. Hamrick Software has released version 8.4.27 with the following list of changes:

  • Fixed problem with Epson Perfection 2450
  • Fixed problem with HP ScanJet G4050
  • Fixed problem with Canon LiDE 600F transparency scans
  • Fixed problem with stripes on negatives with Minolta 5400 II
  • Fixed problem starting VueScan with some HP scanners turned off

What’s new in version 8.4.26:

  • Improved support for HP ScanJet 8350 duplex feeder
  • Fixed problem with B/W transparency scans on HP 7400
  • Increased number of batch raw files from 1,000 to 10,000
  • Added support for Canon MF-series on Windows
  • Added support for ‘Input|Auto repeat’ when using multi crop
