Software Update: Total Commander 8.50 RC 2

The second release candidate of Total Commander version 8.50 has appeared. This program can be used as a replacement for Windows Explorer. Splitting the image in half makes it easy to copy files, but the program can do much more. There are various ways to modify files, a built-in ftp client and a multirename tool, and there is support for a large number of compression formats. Furthermore, the functionality can be plugins be expanded. Since version 8.00 there are separate downloads for 32bit and 64bit environments.

New in version 8.50 is, among other things, that when copying, moving or deleting folders or files, all items that do not cause problems are handled first and that the user is only asked for the items that cause problems at the end. Furthermore, there is support for touch scenes and screens with a high resolution, and the search takes place in a separate process so that the main screen remains available. No new possibilities are added in the release candidates, but the last folds are smoothed out.

Fixed:

• Refresh current dir with Ctrl+R didn’t re-read shared folder status (32/64)
• Crash loading certain comments via OLE2 (64)
• Search duplicate files by size and content: Make sure the results are sorted by full path name within each group (32/64)
• Read directory, progress dialog shown after 5 seconds: Do not update the file list until the entire list has been read (32/64)
• Open RAR archives while they are downloaded, also extract files from them (thanks to new unrar.dll) (32/64)
• Search function, use list file @c:pathfile.txt -> reported also found files (eg 1 file and 1 folder instead of just 1 folder) when searching only current dir (32/64)
• Search function, use list file @c:pathfile.txt -> drive root like c: not found when searching only current dir (32/64)
• Thumbnails view in Network Neighborhood tried to load images from plugins and “reload” entry (32/64)
