Software Update: SystemRescueCd 6.1.7

Version 6.1.7 of SystemRescueCd has been released. SystemRescueCd is a self-starting Linux environment for managing or repairing a system and data after a crash. It is intended to easily perform admin tasks such as creating and editing the hard drive partitions. It comes with various programs such as GParted, fsarchiver, file system tools, editors, Midnight Commander and network tools. It can be used for both Linux and Windows computers and does not require installation, but it is possible. The kernel supports all major file systems such as ext3/ext4, xfs, btrfs, reiserfs, jfs, vfat, ntfs, and network file systems such as SMB and NFS. The following changes and improvements have been made in this release:

Changes in version 6.1.7:

  • Updated kernel to Long-Term-Supported linux-5.4.54
  • Copy autorun scripts on boot device to memory when copytoram is used (#128)
  • Increase default value for cow_spacesize from 256M to 25% of the RAM
  • Reintroduced SystemRescueCd Modules (SRM) support (Marcos Mello)
