Version 8.00 of SystemRescue has been released. SystemRescue is a self-starting Linux environment for managing or repairing a system and data after a crash. It is intended to easily perform admin tasks such as creating and editing the hard drive partitions. It comes with various programs such as GParted, fsarchiver, file system tools, editors, Midnight Commander and network tools. It can be used for both Linux and Windows computers and does not require installation, but it is possible. The kernel supports all major file systems such as ext3/ext4, xfs, btrfs, reiserfs, jfs, vfat, ntfs, and network file systems such as SMB and NFS. The changelog since version 7.0.0 looks like this:

  • Added edk2-shell and a corresponding boot entry in UEFI boot menu (#159)
  • Added entries to enter firmware setup, reboot, shutdown in the UEFI boot menu
  • Added cowpacman2srm to create modules with additional packages (Gerd v. Egidy)
  • Added reverse_ssh to get a remote ssh access behind a firewall (Gerd v. Egidy)
