Software Update: SteamOS Beta 2.117

Spread the love

SteamOS was designed by Valve as an operating system focused on playing games, of course in conjunction with the steam store. It can also play games stream from another Linux, Mac OS X or Windows system on the network. Valve has released an update to SteamOS in the brewmaster beta branch with 2.117 as the version number. The corresponding announcement looks like this:

SteamOS update 2.117 released to brewmaster

This is a very large update. It includes a new 4.11 Linux kernel, and updated drivers for AMD, Intel, and NVIDIA graphics hardware. This update also switches SteamOS from the proprietary AMDGPU-PRO driver to the open source mesa driver. Debian 8.8 and security updates are also included.
