Software Update: Spybot – Search & Destroy 2.2.25
Safer Networking has released an update for Spybot Search & Destroy version 2.1. Spybot is a well-known player in the world of detecting and removing spyware, adware and malware. It can check the computer for the presence of erroneous software, but it can also modify browser and system settings, making it more difficult for malware to penetrate the computer. In addition to the free version, there are now also paid Home and Professional versions. These can be downloaded for ten and twenty euros, and offer, among other things, an antivirus program and extra options, and may update more frequently. The release notes for this release are as follows:
New Spybot 2.2 to support Windows 8.1
Microsoft will soon be releasing version 8.1 of their Windows operating system.
While testing Windows 8.1 for Spybot +AV compatibility, we encountered changes to the Windows Security Center and some other security techniques that made an update to Spybot necessary
Release 2.2 of Spybot will incorporate these modifications in order to ensure compatibility with Windows 8.1. All other changes are minor, which means that you will not need to upgrade from Spybot 2.1 to 2.2 unless you are planning on switching to Windows 8.1.
