Software update: Skype for Windows 5.6 build 105

Spread the love

Skype has released version 5.6 of its voip client for Windows. With Skype it is possible to communicate with other Skype users by means of text, speech or image, or a combination thereof, via an internet connection. Since version 5.0 it is possible to set up a video conference call with a maximum of ten people, but there is a Premium Subscription necessary. Furthermore, the Facebook News Feed is integrated into the program and there is Skype Home, a place where you can, among other things, indicate your mood, change your profile and find new contacts. The most notable change in version 5.6 is that advertising can now be shown during a call. Fortunately, this can simply be clicked away, without this having any consequences for the conversation.

The main changes in Skype 5.6 are:

  • Screen sharing improvements
  • New ‘getting started’ experience
  • Small changes to the call controls
  • The ‘Call Phones’ button has been moved
  • Updated ‘Click to Call’ browser plugins
  • In-call advertising
  • ‘Skype Home’ UI improvements in compact mode
