For secure online conferences, you can use the Secure Internet Live Conferencing protocol, better known by its abbreviation SILC. The design is aimed from the outset to create a secure environment and includes many features of IRC and IM protocols. Support for multimedia messages is available and it can also be used for video and audio conferences. SILC Server is, as the name suggests, a server application for setting up a SILC environment. The developers have released version 1.0.2 with the following announcement:

This version fixes a compile issue on non-i386 systems. Also included are some other minor changes. Upgrading, as always, recommended.


  • Fixed compile error on non-i386 systems for sha256 algorithm.
