Software Update: Samsung Magician 4.2

Samsung has released version 4.2 of Magician. This program can manage a Samsung solid state disk. With Magician, among other things, the condition of the SSD can be monitored, the firmware can be updated and statistics can be viewed and settings can be adjusted. Various tests can also be performed and it will indicate whether you have a real or fake Samsung SSD. The program can therefore be compared to Intel’s SSD Toolbox. The changelog for version 4.2 shows the following changes and improvements:

Magician 4.2 features a number of improvements over version 4.1:

• RAPID (Real Time Acceleration Processing of I/O data) Mode
• Dynamic Over Provisioning
  • Recommended: 10 % of available space for OP by default
  • Custom : User can provide the percentage of available space for OP
• Disk Authenticity: This feature has been removed from the main menu of Home screen and integrated with Disk Drive view.
• OS Optimization: After configuring the Virtual memory in the OS Optimization (Reliability/Endurance/Capacity), if the Virtual memory is configured successfully then user will be prompted to do a system restart by magician application.
• DPI (Display Interface) scaling limited to maximum 115% incase user changes the DPI more than 100%. With this also some of system component like menu, message box and scroll bar are still scalable based on user selection.
