Software Update: Plex Media Server 1.15.8.1198

Plex has released version 1.15.8.1198 of Plex Media Server. This version was previously available to holders of the paid PlexPass, but can now be downloaded by anyone. Plex Media Server is a media server for Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, macOS and various NAS devices. The software can serve content to clients on the same machine within the local network or over the Internet. Client software is available for the aforementioned operating systems, but content can also be viewed on iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Google TV and Chromecast, for example.

The program includes its own software store where plug-ins can be exchanged. Via these plug-ins, content from various streaming services can be viewed, among other things. In addition, there is PlexPass, a paid service that gives early access to new versions in addition to discounts on ‘Premium features’. The changelog since version 1. 15.6.1079 looks like this:

Plex Media Server 1.15.8.1163 (Plex Pass users in the Beta update channel) fixes:

  • (Database) Scheduled database backup job could cause a crash (#9993)
  • (Hubs) Invalidate cached hubs when watch state or library preferences are updated. (#8401)
  • (Music) Don’t try to run loudness analysis on non-local files (#9999)
  • Certain clients (third party Samsung and OpenPHT) would fail to resume video.
  • The server could crash when interacting with a video item with no audio streams (#10007)

This release contains the fixes in version 1.15.8.1163, and additionally:

  • Server settings could become unavailable on the Nvidia SHIELD after certain upgrade sequences (#10125)
