Software update: PeaZip 2.7

Spread the love

The final release of version 2.7 of PeaZip was released on Tuesday. This archiving program, which is available under an open source license, tries to distinguish itself from the competition by specializing in security. Encrypting data is therefore the spearhead of our own pea format. The program can create 7z, bz2, gz, paq/lpaq, pea, quad, tar, upx and zip files and extract various file formats including ace, arj, cab, deb, iso, lha , rar and rpm. The changelog of this release shows the following changes and improvements:

  • Output path dialog now starts from archive’s path by default
  • Output path field is now writeable to allow manual editing or pasting paths from other file managers
  • When browsing a single archive, extraction checks if password is needed, as happens for drag and drop extraction under the same condition
