Software Update: Paint.NET 2.6 RC 2
Some Washington State University students have worked with Microsoft to create an improved version of Paint. The software has been given the name Paint.NET and, as the name already reveals, is developed in Microsoft .NET. Paint.NET is capable of editing images. Layers and various tools can be used to apply effects. The students of WSU recently released the second release candidate of version 2.6 made available. The update comes with the following release notes:
Also, our final release for v2.6 has been pushed back to March 1st. Previously we stated it would be out on February 15th, but we need the extra time to ensure high quality and to finish translation work. Anyway, here’s the changelog:
- Fixed a few remaining high-dpi (120dpi, 144dpi, 196dpi) issues
- Fixed rare division-by-zero bug in Recolor Tool
- Mitigated an out-of-memory crash with the Image->Rotate operations
- Fixed a GZIP compression related issue with .PDN images
- Fixed a few typos in the Help file
This is non-final release and will expire on March 12th, 2006, although an update will be available before then. The final release will not expire.[break]
