Software Update: Paint.NET 2.2 alpha 2

Spread the love

The developers behind Paint.NET have just released the second alpha release of version 2.2. This program can be seen as a replacement for the MS Paint that comes with Windows and is being developed in C# by some people from Washington State University in collaboration with Microsoft. The software only works under Windows 2000, XP or 2003 and, as the name suggests, it will .NET FrameWork must be installed. The changelog of this release looks like this:

Here is a list of the important new features and changes:

  • Rewritten setup wizard. This will keep your settings when installing newer builds, and simplifies the update process.
  • Setup wizard is now translated to German as well.
  • Help->Language submenu for choosing the UI language (English or German)
  • When doing scaling after rotation of selected pixels, the axes of scaling is also rotated (much more intuitive!)
  • You may constrain rotation of selected pixels to 15 degree angles by holding down shift
  • Fixed a crash with the Canvas Size dialog on Windows 2000
  • Updates manager now works through a proxy if one is setup in Internet Explorer

Please note that this build will expire on October 7th. An update will be available before then. The final release of 2.2 will not expire.[break]
